"the cravings are pretty well gone"We saw this post on our weight loss forum:"I have been following the plan for three weeks and have to say that it is the easiest plan to follow I have ever tried.&; One week into it my 82 year old sister had and incident after our morning water workout and I ended up taking her to the emergency room.&; I took her in on Monday and the following Thursday she had a pace maker implanted.&; Through all the time in the ER and in various hospital rooms, I stuck to it.&; I carried snacks with me.&; One day I even took my lunch along.&; The whole point here is that I did not waver from the plan and it was not hard to do. &;"I was dignosed with panic disorder about 30 years ago and have been on antidepressants on and off for most of those years.&; Needless to say I have gained a ton of weight.&; No diet has worked because I can&;t stick with it.&; I have been on the plan now for three weeks and have lost 4 pounds.&; While this is not a whole lot of weight, the good part is that I&;m not discouraged or unhappy about the loss because I feel so much better and the cravings are pretty well gone.&; Plus, I get to eat Sugar Corn Pops which I have avoided like the plague for years&;&;&;&;"I want to encourage all the new folks to do as instructed by the book and with the wonderful email support of Judy, we will all be looking and feeling better."

"Oh my goodness, that's me, that's me!"From a happy reader who can relate to many other Serotonin Power Diet clients and readers:"I got your book yesterday and have been reading it going "Oh my goodness, that&;s me, that&;s me!"&;&;&;"I have been saying for years that the antidepressants have turned of my ability to feel full and no one every took me seriously.&; Maybe the doctors ignored me because they didn&;t know what to do about it.&; Who knows????"I have to go read some more now and make a shopping list.&;&;"Thank you!"-KB

"I feel like I've been blessed with a miracle"This&;is&;a&;note&;from a reader who found us on facebook:"I felt a need to thank you for your work with the SPD book. &;My story is familiar to you of course -- and I am so grateful for the validation."Two years ago I was at my goal weight, as a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. &;Then, I developed a serotonin disorder and got bad enough that I needed medication to "pull out of it". &;I began to feel better -- sleeping through the night, no more vasovagal episodes, no irritability but the pounds steadily came back on. &;And I had changed nothing else! &;Worse yet, my physician vehemently denied that the SSRIs could have anything whatsoever to do with my gain."I started this plan a week ago and I feel like I&;ve been blessed with a miracle. &;THANK YOU."

"I feel skinny, toned, and healthier already!"We love hearing when people respond so well in such a short time on The Serotonin Power Diet - if increases your brain serotonin makes you feel good, you will adapt this way of eating for life and it will never feel like a diet. You will want to eat this way for the way it makes you feel AND because it allows you to lose weight and keep it off. &;So, yes, in some way, you can have your cake and eat it, too! Here&;s an email we recently received:"&;have been gaining weight for the past (almost) two years. This had been a very transitional time in my life, so I just "noticed" it and didn&;t do a whole lot about it. During that transition I had started taking anti depressants. As a licensed clinical social worker I knew and practiced the behavioral and cognitive tools to help my depression, but still the symptoms lingered. I relented and tried medication.&;"When my insurance changed and I was going to have to pay $85 dollars for&;Lexapro, I took myself off the medication (I know, I know...) and started researching natural ways I could help my depression. That is how I found The Serotonin Power Diet.&;"I know how to eat healthy. What I am appreciating about the SPD is 1. the structure and 2. I truly do feel full, very full after eating my meals.&;And, I love the insistence that I exercise (not my favorite thing). I have done&;at least&;a half hour of cardio and resistance training everyday. I might be delusional...but, I feel skinny, toned, and healthier already!"- B.K.

on the diet....forever! (because it works)Here&;s what one of our enthusiastic reader says as she&;s been maintaining her weight loss for over a year:"Another month has gone by, and I am still feeling the gratitude for this program and forum. &;I have been able to address the situations in my life that have/had been a source of uneasiness. &;How wonderful it is to be able to stand up for myself instead of turning to food to suppress feelings and fears. &;I have been spending extra time at the gym, as I have been on vacation...another positive influence. &;I recently had lunch at my Mom&;s and when I put back the extra protein, and the bread, explaining I eat my carbs at night, she asked if I was STILL on "that diet". &;Yes, I said, forever!"- B.

50 lb. weight lossOur readers and clients enjoy great success on The Serotonin Power Diet. &;Once you know it works, if you gain back a few pounds, you know how to lose it again. &;Take this reader who wrote:"Hello I have been on this diet since November of 2007 and have lost over 50lbs. I guess you could say I am maintaining now, since Dec. 2008 I have noticed I have gained about 5 lbs. Do you have any suggestions on where I should start to loose that five pounds. Should I go back to phase 1?"Because this is essentially a responsible dieter who wants to maintain her dramatic weight loss and someone who knows how to make The Serotonin Power Diet work for her, the answer is to go back to either phase I for 2 weeks then phase II, or to go directly to phase II. &;Stay in phase II until you reach your desired weight. &; Then go to maintenance. &;With so few pounds to lose and the knowledge of what it takes to keep the weight off, you can skip phase III in this case.&;As this reader did, it&;s important to make sure that a few pounds gained doesn&;t turn into 10, 20, or all you&;ve lost. &;Way to go!

This is truly "eating to live" instead of "living to eatFrom a reader whose cravings are under control:
"This is truly "eating to live" instead of "living to eat". I was telling my husband that I just am not thinking about food that much. It used to be such a part of my life... craving things. Now, when meal time comes around it's like, okay I have to eat my meal now for my sustanance instead of dying to dig in. The only time during the day I actually feel hungry and could see myself eating a lot (if I allowed myself) is the afternoon. The snack in the afternoon is a lifesaver for me. And even though right after it I feel like I could eat 5 times as much, I just tell myself to wait 30 minutes, and I'll feel completely differently about it...and I do! It's amazing. It's like the neatest science experiment to me!
"Anyway, it's so nice to be feeling like I'm eating to live, instead of my cravings taking over my life!"

"This just can't be for real!!!"From a reader on our community forum who learned about "The Serotonin Power Diet" from a February 25th article that appeared in First for women magazine:
"OK, this just can't be for real!!! Thirteen pounds in fourteen days.............I'm loving the desire to exercise and can't wait to see what these next two weeks bring. I agree that the scale is just one measure.....but when I read all of your success stories and agree that the extra energy and positive attitudes are consistent with what I'm finding, I don't think I'll ever go off this plan!! I have only enough knowledge from the two-page spread in First magazine, but have just bought the book and can't wait to find out more! Glad to be in your club!"
